Dorothy parker

It means we need to be the master of crafting our sentences so that the reader can see and feel the emotion, not just be told. Let's take this Parker quote. Assume Julie, a woman in your story, decides to leave San Francisco to take a job in New York City. This is an important career move. Her male friend wants her to stay but thinks, Love is like quicksilver in the hand. Leave the fingers open and it stays. Clutch it and it darts away. Instead of begging her to stay and demanding that she turn down the job, he hugs her and says he knows this is a big opportunity for her and that he'll see what he can do to visit as often as possible. He thoughts and his actions, assuming the previous part of the story has conveyed their love for each other, show the reader his emotional state.

Irregular verbs live by their own set of rules; they are the mavericks of the English language. Most of the verbs in the English language are irregular verbs.
:)

simple:
Both the present perfect simple and the present perfect continuous relate a past action to the present, but the present perfect simple suggests a completed action and focuses more on achievements and results

continous:
When we use the present perfect continuous, however, there is usually a suggestion that the activity is not yet completed, or we wish to emphasise the length of time it has lasted or stress the continuous, on-going nature of the activity. The present perfect continuous is often used in conjunction with for or since phrases.
UNIT 1:

Passive voice
one can change the normal word order of many active sentences (those with a direct object) so that the subject is no longer active, but is, instead, being acted upon by the verb - or passive.

Passive voice is the one that changes the normal Word order to make it no longer active. Passive voice is when the subject is the focus.

Active voice
In most English sentences with an action verb, the subject performs the action denoted by the verb.

With the active voice the subject, the doer of the action, is in focus.
